Poets perform original poems under 3 minutes length without any props, musical accompaniment or nudity.
They are judged on a scale from 0.0 to 10 by five judges selected from the audience. We drop the high and the low then add up the remaining three scores for each poet to get the final score for each round.
Time penalties start at three minutes and ten seconds with a deduction of .5 for every ten seconds over.
The third round poet with the highest cumulative score wins the slam.
